Design

The reverse of this coin was a design concept created by Donna Weaver and engraved by Charles L. Vickers, and implemented by the United States Mint.


Crossroads of America is listed on the quarter as the state Indiana is centrally located


The 13 stars featured in a partial circle also on the reverse represent the original 13 colonies, and the 6 stars symbolize the 6 states that joined the colonies shortly thereafter.


The racecar is meant to represent the Indianapolis 500 race (NASCAR).

Front (Obverse): The front or obverse of this coin contains the bust of President George Washington. If a mint mark is present it will be on the bottom right just under the words In God We Trust. The words Liberty, United States of America and Quarter Dollar are present as well.


Back (Reverse): Designed by Donna Weaver, the reverse features a racecar superimposed on the state of Indiana, as well as the inscriptions Crossroads of America and 1816 the year they joined the Union.
