1943 Nickel

I have a 1943 nickel that has NO mint mark on the back. I have been told that there were no nickels minted that year without a mint mark on the reverse. Is this possble? What should I do with this coin?

I reviewed the 1943 nickel using my old digital microscope and I think I can see a very, very faint outline of the letter P right where the mint mark should be. It is either one of the counterfeit nickels I have heard about, or it is just extremely worn from circulation. Either way, it is most likely not a mint error or a real missing mint mark.

Thanks for posting! Those are good photos thanks! Have you tried weighing the nickel? Did some calculations with the sleeve since you cant take it out it might weigh between 6.5 and 7 grams. If you wanted to take it out of the sleeve it should weight 5g. I need a digital microscope :) does it take photos? Used to have a usb one that plugged into phone.
