There is zero silver in any nickel except for the war time Jefferson nickels from 1942-1945 marked with a large P, D, or S above Monticello on the reverse. The coins with 90% silver are pre-1965 dimes, quarters, half-dollars and dollars. The dollars have more silver than $1 of face value coins (ten dimes, four quarters, or two half-dollars) so they are worth a bit more. The half-dollars from 1965-1970 are 40% silver and the dollars from 1971-1976 are 40% silver too. Also some three cent pieces are 90% as well as all half-dimes and twenty cent pieces but they are all worth more than the melt value so those are treated differently. There are also some proofs and other stuff but the best way to see value is to search eBay the choose "sold listings" to see what something sells for not what someone is asking because I can as anything for something but that doesn't mean someone ill pay it. Some coins vary wildly on price due to the condition it is in as well but that usually means it is in Uncirculated or Almost Uncirculated condition. Hope that helps some.
