Are there any 2001 RI Quarter Errors?
Yes there are a few generic errors that seem to be present in these coins, and they are...
Smooth Edge
Evidence of several smooth edge specimens selling for between $11-$25 have been sold. The edge in this case is not reeded but rather smooth like a nickel.
This could be considered a defective planchet error as well I imagine.
Improperly Annealed
If Improperly Annealed both obverse and reverse look to have an issue with the surface. These are fairly common and not worth as much as the next error. They are selling non certified for between $3-$15.
Missing Clad Layer
Outer nickel layer missing on one side sometimes both and this reveals the copper core underneath. These coins will also weigh between 12%-and 15% less due to the missing layer of nickel. Weight depending upon how much of the clad layer is missing with 100% missing being 15% less. Fully missing clad layers have sold for between $90-$500, while partially missing layers have sold for less.
Struck Through
This error is most often struck through grease, although other variants exist including odd ones like struck through staples. $5-$35 for non certified private market.
Mintages
How much is a 2001 Proof Rhode Island Quarter worth?
In Average Circulated (AC) condition it's worth around $2.85, one in certified mint state (MS+) condition could bring as much as $6 at auction. This price does not reference any standard coin grading scale. So when we say Average Circulated, we mean in a similar condition to other coins circulated in 2001, and mint state meaning it is certified MS+ by one of the top coin grading companies. *** [?].
