1970 Small Date Penny

Hello I think I have a unique error on this coin. What do you think? Rotated "2" over date? Any insight would be very much appreciated.

This is interesting were researching. It has to be a 1970 not 1920 simply because if it were a 1920 the reverse would be a wheat cent. Thanks for posting! Well get back to you!

Here is a video on the coin we did a few years back

Here are the 3 most valuable errors for the 1970 penny. We've researched nearly all in the past, but have yet to see this error.

Ive made an animated overlay with another 1970 cent from Philadelphia for the year..small and large die variations were only issued from the San Fran mint they switched the die sometime during the minting process. That being said...you can see where there is a line in the 0 that maybe angles towards the same spot in the 7 at the lower section...that may indicate a strike through error? something like a staple or something maybe somehow made its way into the press, but I really dont this that is the complete answer? Can you do me a favor and send me another image of the error? As large and clean as you can?

If you hold the coin in your hand so that lincolns head is pointing up...and without rotating the coin turn it over...is the reverse design rotated at all? Please send another image, this coins has seriously peaked my curiosity...

Definitely see the "0" has been smashed. With the impact going to the "7" but something isn't right still ya'know? How is the bottom of the 7 curled up like the top of a 2 rotated 180°. Weird. Maybe the mint mark got tangled up in the date? Nothing that I can tell is off on the back.

Ok yes now that to me looks like a struck through error. Its when something is between the die and the copper planchet when the die strikes the planchet. Something foreign like a staple. Thanks for posting another photo. It looks like the extra material was extruded below the 7, like if you push your finger down into wax an indention is make, but at the same time material is ejected from the coin where the indention is made. That also lines up with the mark on the 0. Here is a really good video on this error type. Watch it and tell me if thats what you also think it is? You will have to copy and paste the link im sorry.

NGC one of the leading grading companies did an article on it as well. Included this example...

Hey those are really good videos. Ok here we are...what would you price this coin at? Maybe ask a couple of your coworkers and see what they think as well? I feel like somewhere in the future this coin is going to be known worldwide with a cool nickname like 002 or Lincolns seventytwo lol thanks again
